Actually, the first printer in the world was invented on July 24 1828, and the letters were arranged by the sequence of the alphabet. It wasn’t changed until in 1868 an American named Christopher Latham Sholes, the father of the modern printer rearrange the layout to “QWERTY” in order to improve the printing speed while avoid stuck.

Compared with the sequential layout, the “QWERTY” layout has the frequently used keys within the reach of little finger and ring finger, why not the index finger and middle finger? do you know the reason about the arrangement?
